Media Registration

E3 is the must-attend video game event of the year.  Be among the first to cover the hottest releases, the biggest announcements, and the sheer excitement of all things E3.

Qualifications

Qualifications of all media outlets will be determined by the E3 2019 media registration staff.

Employees of media outlets who do not work in an editorial capacity will not qualify for a media badge including: Art Directors, Graphic Designers, Public Relations Personnel, Publishers, Managers, Social Media Managers, District Managers,
Marketing Representatives, Sales Representatives, and Senior Level Managerial staff.

Working journalists 17 years of age or older that fall under one of the below categories may register for a media badge:

Freelance Journalists

Freelance writers from unqualified media outlets will not be admitted. In order to qualify as media, we require that you provide ALL of the following:
  • A copy of your driver’s license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 17 will be admitted)
    • International media must submit a copy of your passport
  • A letter from a publisher, editor, or producer (on their letterhead) stating that you are covering E3 2019 on assignment
  • A bylined interactive entertainment industry-related article from your publication (above) written by you and published within the past three months (the copy must clearly show the name of the publication and your byline)

Broadcast Journalists and Photographers

Each member of a broadcast crew must register separately. To qualify as media, please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your driver’s license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 17 will be admitted)
    • International media must submit a copy of your passport
  • A copy of your business card with name, editorial title, and media outlet’s logo
  • A letter from a producer/editor (on company letterhead) stating that you are covering E3 2019 on assignment
  • If possible, the E3 Media Team (who reviews all applications) encourages all applicants to submit links to segments they’ve hosted that are available online

Online Media (News Websites)

Online outlets must be previously established (fully launched and operational for at least six months) and updated regularly with original and current interactive entertainment industry news. To qualify as online media, please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your driver’s license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 17 will be admitted)
    • International media must submit a copy of your passport, AND
  • A copy of your business card with name, editorial title, and media outlet’s logo, AND
  • URLs to your articles with your name and title appearing in an editorial capacity.  Your articles must have been published within the past three months

* Note: All online outlets must meet minimum site traffic and rank requirements that vary from year to year. The E3 Media team will use the measurement site SimilarWebPRO to evaluate each site’s traffic and rank. The E3 Media team cannot accept first party analytics.

Social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) will not be considered as eligible online media.

Industry and Financial Analysts

Please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your driver’s license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 17 will be admitted)
    • International media must submit a copy of your passport
  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • A recent report or bulletin on interactive entertainment with your byline written within the past three months

YouTube / Twitch / Mixer Channels

Please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your driver’s license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 17 will be admitted)
    • International media must submit a copy of your passport
  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • Links to your channel/videos with your face clearly present. If you are a producer, director, or part of the production team, please provide a link where you are credited within the video or on the channel page

*Note: YouTube, Twitch and Mixer channels must meet minimum follower and video view count requirements that vary from year to year. E3 Media team will also evaluate channels based on content produced, which should include original and current (within the past three months) interactive entertainment industry news (tips, cheats, and walkthroughs are acceptable).

Production Companies

Please provide ALL of the following

  • A copy of your driver’s license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 17 will be admitted)
    • International media must submit a copy of your passport
  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • A letter (on company letterhead) from an editor/producer at a broadcast or editorial outlet stating that your company has been hired to cover E3 2019 on assignment and where coverage will appear
  • Links to three pieces of work you have previously produced

Note: Production companies MUST be hired by a broadcast or editorial outlet in order to be issued E3 2019 media badges. The E3 Media team will not issue badges to companies who have not been hired by a broadcast or editorial outlet.

Podcasts

Please provide ALL of the following:

  • A copy of your driver’s license or government issued photo identification clearly showing your name and date of birth (no one under 17 will be admitted)
    • International media must submit a copy of your passport
  • A copy of your business card with name, title, and company logo
  • A letter from a producer/editor (on company letterhead) with contact information stating that you are covering E3 2019 on assignment.  If you are a producer, or part of the production team, please provide a link where you are credited.
  • Links to your podcast on iTunes, YouTube, SoundCloud and/or Stitcher

Credential Submission

During the E3 online registration process, you will be prompted to upload electronic versions of your media credentials. Registration will not be complete until all documents have been uploaded. The deadline for uploading your media credentials is Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Show management will contact you if your credential documents are approved or denied, or if additional information is required.

On-Site Media Registration

If the Los Angeles Convention Center hasn’t reached its maximum capacity and on-site registration is still open, you may register at E3 2019. You must bring photo identification and meet the appropriate credentials detailed above.

Media FAQs

Where is the Media Center?

Members of the press and industry analysts that are registered as Media can enjoy the complimentary Media Center located in Petree Hall.

Who should register as media for E3 2019?

E3 2019 media registration is open only to working journalists who are 17 years of age or older and work with an accredited media outlet. No one under the age of 17 will be permitted, including infants. This policy is strictly enforced. Qualifications of all media outlets will be determined by the E3 2019 Media Registration Staff.

I have qualified as media and attended E3 in the past. Do I have to register again?

Yes. If you were qualified as media for previous E3 shows, you are not automatically guaranteed a media badge for E3 2019. You are required to submit new credentials each year to be considered for a media badge.
